Morecambe’s resident stuntman has a role in a Holywood blockbuster currently wowing audiences across the globe.
And Martin Shenton is far from miserable about his role in musical sensation Les Misérables alongside X-Men star Hugh Jackman.
The Regent Park Studios owner in is the film’s opening sequence alongside the Australian megastar.
Shenton, whose film and TV credits include Bond film Tommorow Never Dies and Coronation Street, said: “I’m in the big opening sequence with four or five hundred extras where I’m dragging the big boat, doing some stunt stuff with Hugh Jackman.
“I remember walking back for lunch one day and being dragged over for some still shots and turning round and there he was.
“He didn’t look the same because he’d lost a lot of weight for the role.
“He was a nice guy, very humble, a lovely bloke.”
The film’s grand beginning involved Shenton doing some singing, something that he doesn’t usually have to do in his stunt work.
He said: “We all had to learn this song and then we sang it live to make it sound authentic.
“It’s fair to say it’s not something I’m used to doing!”
The Oscar-nominated Les Misérables also stars Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway.
