Big names and top-notch drama for new season

SOME of the biggest names in entertainment are to tread the boards at Lancaster’s Grand Theatre this year.

The new season has something for everyone: quality drama worthy of the West End, critically acclaimed children’s productions, top comedians, old favourites, opera, ballet and TV favourites are all set to deliver a fantastic programme of events.

The line-up includes comedians Bob Mills and Rich Hall, singers Elkie Brooks and Joe Longthorne, tributes to The Beatles, and theatre such as The Trial, Blood Brothers and The Gruffalo.

The season commences this Saturday, January 21, with the return of the Furness Charity Challenge. This will be followed by Alysia Gilda’s School of Dance on Sunday, January 22, raising money for the New Spaces Appeal.

Legendary singer Elkie Brooks will perform on Friday, January 27.

Morecambe’s Promenade Concert Orchestra deliver a New Year Viennese Concert for the Rotary Club of Carnforth on Saturday, February 3. All proceeds will go to the North West Air Ambulance Service.

London Community Gospel Choir celebrate their 30th anniversary on Saturday, February 4, then on Monday, February 6, comic Richard Herring visits with his exciting show Does Anyone Love Anybody Anyway? Spirit medium Colin Fry’s High Senses tour stops off at the Grand on February 7.

Europe’s leading tribute to Oasis – Oasish – roll into the theatre on February 11, and Lancaster Footlights deliver the fantastic Spring and Port Wine by Bill Naughton between Tuesday, February 21, and Saturday, February 25.
