More than 20 high school students planned and delivered fun sporting sessions for primary school children as part of their academic awards.
Pupils from Central Lancaster High School completed courses in Sports Leadership to achieve their Sports Leaders UK Level 1 Award.
The 30 hour course, completed by the students over a period of 12 weeks, is designed and delivered by Lancaster City Council for students aged 13-16 as a way for them to gain their first experience in becoming a PE teacher.
As part of the course, the students were encouraged to undertake the planning of sporting activities and coaching sessions. They also developed their communication skills whilst learning about the benefits of health and fitness and fair play in sport.
The pupils from Central Lancaster High School then put their new skills into practice by providing a series of safe, fun and active sessions for groups of Year 3 and 4 children from nearby Christ Church CE Primary School.
Finally, the 21 students who passed the course were awarded with a certificate and a badge from Sports Leaders UK.
