Three groups of Lancaster & Morecambe College students from the Sports, Sports Leadership and Public Services courses have just returned from a variety of outdoor work experience exchanges throughout Europe.
Students spent three weeks each in; Estonia, Slovakia or Bulgaria to work in sports and leadership activity camps for local children.
The Leonardo stream of the Lifelong Learning Programme subsidises an International Placement Programme offering vocational students in the UK fantastic mobility opportunities throughout the EU.
Lancaster & Morecambe College was the UK’s first Further Education provider to get a certificate of quality in mobility placements abroad and continues to strive to provide unique working experiences for their students.
Future LMC placements and exchanges include continuing to send sports and public services students to Bulgaria, Slovakia and Estonia as well as widening the opportunities across the curriculum to include sending health and social care students to The Netherlands and Spain, childcare students to Romania, IT students to Lithuania and Czech Republic, hair and beauty students to Germany and animal care students to Poland.
International Projects Coordinator, John Latham, said: “These unique international opportunities are not only life changing in terms of the outlook and personal development of the students, they also offer invaluable industrial experiences and make the student ultimately more employable in the long term.”
