Families across the Morecambe, Heysham and Carnforth areas could soon be learning fun ways to get fit and healthy thanks to a free healthy lifestyle course.
MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it!) is a healthy lifestyle programme which is available to families with children aged between seven and 13 who are above a healthy weight.
The after school sessions take place twice a week and aim to improve fitness and overall health.
On the programme, families will find out how to read food labels and take part in fun foodtaster sessions.
They will also learn about healthy portion sizes and will be shown the effect different foods have on their health and wellbeing.
During the course children also take part in a wide variety of fun physical activities and swimming pool based games.
The programme is run by Fylde Coast YMCA to tackle the local obesity problem.
There a two programmes starting this month: Heysham High School, starting on January 21, Tuesday and Thursday 5-7pm, and at Carnforth High School, starting January 27, Monday and Wednesday 5-7pm.
