A Year 11 student from Saint Aidan’s Church of England Technology college has been having a lot of musical success this year.
Shaunie-Leigh Edge, aged 15 from Preesall has only been playing her BBb Bass brass instrument for 2 years, spent one week of her summer holidays taking part in the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain summer course.
Shaunie auditioned to gain a place on this prestigious course and enjoyed a week of high class tuition and inspirational music making at Repton School in Derbyshire.
She said: “I have learned so much about music in such a short space of time and making so many new friends.”
The course concluded with a concert including newly commissioned music, a traditional march and even a choral version of ‘Hey Jude’.
Shaunie also had the opportunity to play in the Band’s tenth anniversary concert at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester in September.
Shaunie is now looking to progress to the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain next year.
