A teddy from Wilson’s Endowed CE School will accompany former pupil and university student, Dan Robinson on his charitable challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in July.
Dan is currently studying mechanical engineering at Sheffield University but returned to his old primary school in Over Kellet to tell the pupils about his exciting journey to raise money for Child Reach International.
Year 6 pupil Campbell Murrell presented Dan with Wilson Bear in a special assembly to accompany him during his trek and Dan has promised to take photographs of the little bear’s adventure, including one at the top of Africa’s tallest mountain.
Dan will return to his primary school before the end of the Summer term with Wilson Bear so that they both tell the children about their adventures together up Kilimanjaro.
Dan will also be visiting some of the charity’s projects whilst in Tanzania and will tell the Over Kellet pupils how the money he raised supported the children in Tanzania.
The school held a non-uniform day and cake sale on the day of Dan’s visit in support of Child Reach International.
Pupil Abbie Winrow, aged 11 said: “I think Dan is very brave to go up Kilimanjaro and we are really looking forward to seeing Wilson Bear on top of the mountain with Dan.”
Dan said: “It is great to have such good support from my primary school on a trip I’m really looking forward to, for an excellent cause.”
Headteacher Jo Williams said,: “We are thrilled to support Dan in his challenge and it is always good for our children to meet former pupils and learn of their successes and aspirations.
“We wish Dan luck in his challenge and look forward to seeing him and Wilson Bear again in the summer.”
