School governors hold conference

The Lancashire Association of School Governing Bodies, an independent association of governors supporting governors, is holding an Autumn Mini Conference at 6.30pm today, Thursday December 11, in the Halton Suite 1 at the Holiday Inn, Caton Road.

The main speaker will be Alan Gibbons, an award winning children’s author who has carried out work with the children at Torrisholme Primary School and has national standing in the Reading for Pleasure campaign.

His theme for the night is ‘Alternatives to target based schools’.

There will also be discussions on topics that are currently affecting governors.

All governors are invited, even if they are not members.

The Lancashire Association of School Governing Bodies represents more than 7,000 governors and 426 schools in Lancashire.
