Children from two primary schools are set to put the fun back into lunchtimes after completing Young Leader Award training delivered by Lancaster City Council.
Twelve pupils from Tatham Fells Primary School and 29 children from Scotforth St Paul’s Primary School undertook the 10 hour course, which is designed to help young children aged from 9 to 13 deliver structured activities to younger children within their school.
The children who passed the award now have the opportunity to implement their new found skills by organising, planning and delivering games and activities for the younger children at their schools in Years 1, 2 and 3.
These games and activities help the lunch time assistants to deliver safe, fun and active sessions and encourages the younger children to participate in a more structured activity during their lunch break.
The course is approved by Sports Leaders UK and all the children that completed the training received a certificate.
