Showpiece award ‘Apprentice of the Year’ was won by Jamie-Lee Butterworth who is Lancaster based company Accessplanit’s first apprentice.

Following his six month review, Jamie was offered the position of support helpdesk advisor and the company have now hired a second apprentice through Lancaster and Morecambe College.

Jamie is said to have impressed his employers right away with his attitude and enthusiasm at the interview combined with his determination to take ownership customers’ problems and solve them.

Lancaster and Morecambe College director of business development Jamie Hughes said he was honoured to host the night.

He said: “Jamie has a truly inspirational story. He has become an ambassador for the apprenticeship programme who due to his diligence, hard work and motivation has opened the door to the recruitment of new apprentices.

“The event turned out to be both moving and very motivational leaving me in no doubt of the value and importance of the apprenticeship system.”

Other winners on the night included the Ellel Ministries pair of Angela Marra who won ‘Best Team Player’ and Sara Panczel who won ‘Most Improved Apprentice’ while the Hawkshead Brewery won employer of the year.
