Lancaster Canal Trust’s first boat trip of the season was made all the more enjoyable thanks to warm bank holiday sunshine.
Sunday’s sailing of Waterwitch had a full compliment of passengers.
Journeying to the coal yard wharf they turned and headed north, passing baby moorhens that scattered into the reeds, hiding until the boat sailed slowly by.
Among the many sights were a proud mother and father with 14 newly-hatched baby ducks.
Waterwitch sails from Crooklands Stables every Sunday and Bank Holiday until October between around 11am and 4pm.
