Drink shame of Skerton teacher

rton High School teacher who drank during the working day has been found guilty of “unacceptable professional conduct.”

On one occasion, Patricia Lambert drove a pupil while under the influence of alcohol.

The General Teaching Council’s (GTC) professional conduct committee found that while working part-time at Skerton High, Mrs Lambert had consumed alcohol, either on or off the school premises, on two days in March 2009.

She admitted transporting a pupil in her car while under the influence of alcohol on March 31, 2009.

Announcing the decision, committee chair Liz Carter said: “We find that, in being under the influence of alcohol when she transported a pupil in her car on March 31, 2009, having consumed alcohol, either on or off the school premises, during the course of some school days, specifically March 26 2009 and March 31, 2009 and having on one specific occasion put the health, welfare and safety of a pupil at risk, Mrs Lambert was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.
