A 74-year-old woman was tied to her stairlift by “despicable” robbers who ransacked her Morecambe home.
The men burst inside after the pensioner answered the door of her Christie Avenue property at around 7pm on Friday, December 20.
They pushed her over, causing bruising to her arms and wrists, before bounding her arms together around the stairlift at the bottom of her stairs.
As the defenceless victim sat helpless, the pair then trashed the house before stealing money and sentimental items.
It was some “considerable time” before she managed to free herself and call police, detectives said.
Detective Inspector Andy Bunn, from Lancaster Police, said: “This was a most despicable attack on a vulnerable and defenceless elderly woman in the run up to Christmas.
“The level of violence used was completely unnecessary causing the lady to suffer bruising to her wrists and arms.”
Both men were described as white, well-built and wearing hats.
One was around 6ft tall and the second around 5ft8.
Both covered their faces during the attack.
DI Bunn added: “I implore anyone with any knowledge of this crime to contact Lancashire Police on 101 or, should they prefer, to do so anonymously by ringing the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111 and quoting log reference .LC-20131220-1211.”
