GARDENERS are counting the cost after vandals left a trail of destruction at Torrisholme Road allotments in Lancaster.
Two sheds have been burned to the ground and about 14 more were broken into in a spate of attacks.
Allotments association chairman Judith Watson said the worst incident was just after midnight on Friday, May 7, when arsonists set the sheds on fire after pouring petrol all over them.
“It really has been quite harrowing to see the destruction they have caused,” said Mrs Watson.
“The flames were 40ft high when the sheds were set on fire and we’ve also had a lot of tools taken.”
