A MAN who tried repeatedly to stab a police officer with a broken bottle has been jailed for four years and 10 months.
Jamie Joss, 19, of Needham Avenue, West End, Morecambe, appeared before Preston Crown Court on Monday, November 7 after he attacked the officer following a street brawl in the town.
Officers attended Morecambe’s Queen Street in the early hours of June 18 as a result of reports of a fight involving a large number of people.
Sgt James Martin was patrolling the area in his police car when he saw Joss covered in blood and stopped to check on his welfare.
Joss then produced a broken bottle from behind his back and thrust it through the car window at Sgt Martin’s face and neck.
The officer was able to roll onto his side and pull up his stab vest, preventing any injuries.
