A copy of one of the greatest albums of all time proved too popular when it was stolen from a charity shop window.

The Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club band album, with a rare poster, was stolen from Sue Ryder on Euston Road, Morecambe, between February 13 and 20.

Four auction items, including the album, a Sir Galahad Heredity sculpture, a Lladro china figurine and a Chuck Ren Deliverance sculpture were pinched.

Assistant manager Anne Hartle said: “We still raised £150. The theft was not reported to police because the items had been donated.”
