DETECTIVES investigating a serious sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl as she walked home today revealed they are following several positive lines of enquiry from Evening Post readers.

Police received several calls after officers appealed for information to catch the teenager’s attacker.

The victim had been out with friends on September 30, and was walking home at around 8.10pm along Ribbleton Avenue, Preston, when she was approached by a man who tried to make conversation with her.

When she got near to the RSPCA the man dragged her down a set of stairs opposite the old health centre and sexually assaulted her.

He ran off in the direction of Ribbleton Hall Drive after being disturbed.

Det Insp Warren Atkinson, from Preston Police, said: “We are pleased at the response from the public and are investigating several new lines of enquiry.”

The attacker is aged 25 to 30, tall, muscular, tanned, with light brown hair combed to the side and blue eyes. Call 101.
