Morecambe takeaway attempted blowtorch robbery

A man armed with a blowtorch scaled the front counter of a takeaway and demanded cash in an attempted robbery in Morecambe.

Two men entered the New Dragon Takeaway in Albert Road with their faces covered at around 9.20pm on Thursday September 3.

One of the men, armed with a blowtorch, scaled the counter and confronted staff before demanding money.

The staff refused to hand any money over and the pair fled the scene empty handed.

A 17-year-old boy and a 24 year old man, both from Morecambe, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

DC 3019 Kathryn Foley of Lancaster CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident last week or who has any information that could assist with our on-going investigation to come forward.”
