Police are trying to track down a man after £200 of goods were stolen from two Morecambe shops within half an hour.

After ‘loitering’ for a long period of time, officers said the suspect concealed meat in a bag in Tesco Express on Heysham Road at around 5pm on Thursday, November 21.

About 30 minutes later, the same man was apparently seen to enter Sports Direct, at Sunnycliff Retail Park, where he allegedly placed t-shirts inside the same bag.

The store’s alarms were activated when he left the store, but he was not caught.

Police said the suspect is believed to have obtained around £200 worth of goods without offering payment for any.

PC Caroline Caine, of Lancaster Police, added: “These incidents show a planned effort to steal from stores in the Morecambe area, and there may be more businesses coming forward in the future having being targeted by the same male.

“We are very eager to speak with the male pictured in relation to our ongoing enquiries and would urge any members of the public that recognise him to get in contact with us as soon as possible.”
