Morecambe Bay rescue man sentenced

man who had to be rescued from Morecambe Bay five times after walking out into the water to attract attention has been sentenced to a 12 month community order at Lancaster Magistrates Court.

Cezary Fortuna, 36, of no fixed abode, will have to complete 200 hours unpaid work.

Fortuna had previously pleaded guilty to causing a public nuisance and had cost countless man hours after emergency services were called out.

It emerged from police that he left notes in public places detailing his plans and only chose to walk out into the water during daytime, when he could easily be rescued.
