A man believed to be carrying a bag of bricks threatened to jump off a canal bridge.
Emergency services were called to the Caton Road aqueduct in Lancaster at around 5.40pm on Tuesday, May 21.
Morecambe’s RNLI inshore lifeboat and hovercraft were sent to the scene to support police.
There were several emergency service teams on scene including coastguard rescue teams from Morecambe & Knot End, Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service.
After two hours the man was persuaded to climb back over to safety.
He has since been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
