A MAN has been jailed for five years for two separate offences of robbery and attempted robbery.

Dean Halliwell punched a pizza delivery driver in the face, having grabbed at his bag.

Before that, he had threatened a shop owner by telling him: “Give me some money or I’ll cut your throat”.

Halliwell, 21, who had been living on Sefton Road, Heysham, pleaded guilty to one charge of robbery and another of attempted robbery, the offences occuring weeks apart.

The offence of robbery took place on February 5, when a driver from the Little Italy takeaway in Heysham took food to an address on Sefton Road. Halliwell lived next door.

When the pizza man arrived, Halliwell said to two other men who were present: “How about we kick his head in and take the lot?”
