A man will appear in court on Friday charged with seven firearms offences following police raids in Morecambe, Milnthorpe and Holme.

Paul Holmes, 49, of Station Road, Holme, was due to appear before magistrates in Barrow on Friday morning charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited handgun, two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm (a sawn-off shotgun) and one count of possession of Section 1 ammunition without a certificate.

His arrest follows a joint operation by Titan (the North West’s regional organised crime unit), Cumbria Constabulary and the National Crime Agency, which resulted in 10 weapons and ammunition being seized from a house in Holme and a farm in Milnthorpe on Wednesday morning.
