A Lancaster man was jailed for two years and six months for his part in a violent robbery on the Newton estate and for drug possession.
Declan Clarkson, 18, of Coniston Road, Lancaster, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court having previously been found guilty of the offences.
A 15-year-old boy was also sentenced to 12 months’ supervision, three months’ electronic monitoring and a two year Youth Rehabilitation Order for his part in the same robbery.
The offences took place on Monday, May 20 when the pair took £95 cash from the victim’s pocket after a group had beat him to the floor with bats on the Newton estate in Lancaster.
When arrested, Clarkson was also found to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis.
Inspector Nigel Parkinson of Lancaster Police said: “This was an opportunistic crime against a victim that had already been subjected to a group assault.
“The message is clear, we will not tolerate these kinds of offences and yesterday’s custodial sentence for Declan Clarkson demonstrates this.”
