A LANCASTER man has been jailed after assaulting his girlfriend and then using an improvised flame thrower on police.

Terence Cragg, 25, of Eastham Street, was sentenced to 150 days behind bars when he appeared before Lancaster magistrates last Friday.

The court heard that police had attended Cragg’s house at 10.20pm last Wednesday, following reports of a man assaulting his girlfriend and threatening people with a plank.

Cragg then barricaded himself into a house and, when challenged by police, attempted to burn the officers with an aerosol which he set alight. He was later arrested at Squires bar, in the city centre.
