A LANCASTER man is in a critical condition in hospital today after a collision during a police chase.

Another man was injured and a third was arrested after the accident at about 12.30am on Saturday morning near Grange-over-Sands Golf Club.

The three men were travelling in a black Vauxhall Corsa said to have been stolen after a burglary at a house in Lancaster.

Lancashire police followed the car as far as Milnthorpe where Cumbria Constabulary took over the pursuit on the A6.

The chase continued along the A590 and then through Lindale village towards Grange and ended when the driver of the Corsa lost control and crashed.

A 20 year-old man who was driving the car has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent and is being held in police custody.

The other two were taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Anyone who saw the crash or the pursuit is asked to call Cumbria Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit on 0845 33 00 247.
