Trial date set

A man accused of trying to tow a £15,000 caravan off a driveway in Poulton before it became stuck in a pothole has made his first appearance at court.

John Gavin, of Mellishaw Caravan Park, Mellishaw Lane, Morecambe, pleaded not guilty to attempting to steal the Abbey Safari caravan on June 25 last year.

Gavin, 46, had his case adjourned to July 18 for trial by magistrates in Blackpool.

Shoplifter jailed

A prolific thief who stole chicken and cheese from a supermarket has been jailed.

Adam Lee Campbell, 22, of Edenvale Crescent, denied stealing from Asda but was convicted after a trial and must serve 10 weeks in prison.
