Stories in brief

Shed fire may be arson

A fire which tore through a shed damaging two houses is believed to have been started deliberately. Firefighters have urged people to secure their sheds and outbuildings after the incident on Sefton Road in Morecambe last Thursday. A spokesman from Morecambe Fire Station said: “Would all those people who have sheds, outhouses and other buildings please make every effort to secure them from unwanted trespassers. As the dark nights are now upon us our properties can be an easy target for opportunists.”

Keep vehicles secure

Police are advising motorists to keep vehicles secure when defrosting their cars - don’t leave it unattended especially with the engine left running with keys in the ignition.

Take care on the roads and plan your journey. If conditions are poor think ‘Do I really need to make this journey?’
