Charity shop window is smashed by yobs

Police were called at 1.45am overnight last Wednesday to Thursday, January 28 to 29, by someone reporting that they had seen the shop window at the St John’s Hospice charity shop on Church Street being smashed.

Nothing was taken and police said the incident is being treated as criminal damage.

A spokesperson for St John’s Hospice said: “Our charity shop on Church Street in Lancaster was vandalised in the early hours of Thursday morning.

“We would like to confirm that this was not a break in and nothing was stolen from the shop.

“This was an act of criminal damage and the police have been informed.

“Our wonderful supporters have shown us the power of Facebook.

“The messages of support, donations and offers of help have been truly heart warming.

“For those who have offered to help repair the window, thank you, we will be in touch.

“We are always in need of good quality goods for our eight shops, visit www.sjhospice.org.uk/shops to see how you can help, or just drop into the hospice or one of the shops with your donations.”
