Security around cash-in- transit vans is being boosted in the run-up to Christmas after the number of robberies on the vehicles doubled in a year in Lancashire.

Eight have been targeted in 2013, compared with just four during the whole of last year.

Police said officers would use both high-visibility and covert patrols as more deliveries are made to banks and businesses in the county in the busy festive retail season.
