Carnforth crane collapse driver escapes with minor injury

British Transport Police raced to the scene of an accident in Carnforth where a crane had fallen and trapped the driver.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called to Warton Road, Carnforth at 11.40am on Tuesday, August 9 following reports of a person trapped by a collapsed crane.

“Colleagues from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service also attended and a man was released without injury.

“The Railway Accident Investigation Branch have been informed.”

North West Ambulance Service said they were called out to the West Coast Railway depot at 11.13am on August 9 and sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance but the crane driver only complained of minor foot pain.
