A man has pleaded guilty to murder following a fatal stabbing at a caravan park in Heysham.

Gareth Mason, 26, also pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent to his former partner Katrina Rudrum during the same incident.

Bus driver Adam Stirrup was stabbed to death by Mason in the early hours of August 4 2013 at Stud Holme Farm Holiday Park in Heysham, where he lived.

Katrina Rudrum, 26, was also stabbed.

Mason, of Westminster Road, Morecambe, appeared before a packed court room to enter his guilty pleas.

Wearing a dark blue jumper and dark trousers he spoke only to confirm his name and enter his guilty pleas.

After the pleas were entered Judge Stuart Baker said he would like to hear more about the impact of the stabbings upon the surviving victim, and Mr Stirrup’s family.

He adjourned sentencing the case until Tuesday.
