Equipment worth thousands of pounds was stolen from an opticians in Torrisholme.
A computer monitor and keyboard were also taken in the raid at Moon and Coxhill on Lancaster Road.
Police said somebody entered the opticians between 5pm and 9am on December 3-4 and stole various pieces of optical equipment.
Officers are linking the crime to another incident where, between 10.30pm and 11pm that night, a BT control box opposite the premises had its fibre optic broadband cable and telephone line cut.
PC Jo Clement said: “We believe the cable was cut prior to the burglary being carried out and, at this stage, we do believe the two incidents are connected. If anybody has any information about either or both incidents they are asked to contact police.
“I would also like to speak with anybody who may have seen anyone acting suspicious in the Lancaster Road area either on the night in question or the days leading up to it.”
