Heysham is to get six new CCTV cameras after a rise in reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage on the Combermere Estate.

Police Community Support Officer Dennis Nelson wrote to the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes for funding for two cameras, but said he was “astounded” when the charity donated £600 to pay for six.

Police said there had been a slight increase in reports of nuisance behaviour in the area since July.

Although some offenders were caught, others are still to be identified.
