Latest news.

The owner of a vintage model aeroplane being flown at Bolton-le-Sands is devastated after it was stolen, said police.

The 1966 aircraft is a red plane with yellow wings and an Amco 87 Mk1 engine attached.

The owners details are clearly wrote onto the side of the aircraft.

The owner was flying the aircraft, which has a 48 inch wingspan, on the sands of Bolton-le-Sands near St Nicholas Lane when it went down and it is believed to have been picked up by a member of the public.

PC Byrony Fell said “I am eager to return this aircraft to the owner due to its sentimental value.

“I would urge anyone with any information about its whereabouts to contact the police.

“It is a very distinctive vintage model which would stand out to people.

“If the person who has picked this aircraft up could contact the police, I am sure we could sort this matter out amicably.”

Anybody with any information can call police on 101 quoting ref BB1407261 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
