Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) has named David Mower of the RSPB the recipient of its Bittern Award.

It’s given annually to someone who has made outstanding contributions to the conservation of the area.

Annabel Rushton, of the RSPB, nominated Mr Mower for his “tireless work” for RSPB Leighton Moss, Silverdale, and Morecambe Bay nature reserve for 27 years.

He said: “Working all these years at Leighton Moss has been an absolute pleasure, knowing that it makes such a difference for nature and the people that enjoy coming to see it. It is a huge compliment to receive this award.”
