Two Morecambe women have raised more than £1,800 for Unique Kidz and Co after taking part in a punishing 85 mile walk.
Sandie Halpin and Tracy Gethin took part in the Isle of Man Parish to Parish Walk, which must be completed within 24 hours.
Sandie managed to complete the 85 miles in 21 hours and 57 minutes and finished 143 out of the 215 who finally finished.
Because of a stress fracture to her leg however, Tracy managed 61 miles but unfortunately had to throw in the towel.
Their fantastic achievement has been rewarded and altogether their sponsors have now donated £1,800 to help disabled children in north Lancashire and south Cumbria.
Sandie, who works at 3-1-5 Health and Fitness in Lancaster, said: “It’s the toughest walk I’ve ever done.
“But it was worth all the pain to know that all the money we’ve raised will go to a brilliantlocal charity which supports disabled children and their families.”
The Parish to Parish Walk links up the 17 parishes of the Isle of Man, starting and finishing in Douglas.
