Coun Hennessy saw a giant Mission Control being constructed from shoeboxes and junk and then went onto help the Year 2 class work on their willow framed planets.

County Coun Nikki Hennessy was delighted with the warm response she received.

The staff and pupils impressed her with the imaginative way they were used materials and said: “It was so much fun to see the children using all the available resources – even the local willow trees were being used, I hope to get a look at the final product.’

Headteacher Jo Williams said: “I was really pleased to welcome Coun Hennessy who was most keen to learn about the school and how we work.

“I feel it is most important that our pupils have a connection with those who make big decisions that affect us on a daily basis and likewise that the councillors have the opportunity to visit schools.”

Pupil, Madison Taylor, aged seven, had her own views: “It was good to meet Mrs Hennessy so that we could show her what we do in our school. She listened to our ideas and she enjoyed our craft activities.”
