A Lunesdale pub has re-opened after a £70,000 refurbishment and the arrival of two new landlords.

The Red Dragon, at Kirkby Lonsdale, has been taken on by landlady Sonja Cook and Keith Adams, a qualified chef.

Robinsons, the brewery which owns the Main Street pub, said the couple hoped to use their skills and experience to turn it into a thriving real ale and quality food venue.

Improvements include a new back bar and bar top, rustic furniture, vintage colours and new signage designed to give the pub a ‘quaint quirky feel’.

Sonja said: “We’re really excited to put our own stamp on the Red Dragon, with an excellent range of ales available and a delicious menu of traditional homemade pub food. We hope previous customers will return and new customers come and see what we have to offer.”

Steve Robinson, Robinsons’ business development manager, added: “The pub was looking a little tired and was in need of a bit of TLC.

“Now it’s looking back at its best we’re excited to welcome customers back to enjoy the new surroundings and sample the fantastic beer and food.

“Sonja and Keith are fantastic publicans who we believe have the skills and experience to make the Red Dragon a great venue.”
