Hornby village won’t be same without new blood

A village committee says it has reached “crisis point” after failing to attract new members.

Hornby Village Institute is appealing for new blood to join its ranks after membership has depleted over the last 10 years.

The institute, in Main Street, re-opened in 2006 after an extensive £1.5m refit.

Chair Jacque Lloyd said: “Our main issue is we’re all getting older, and we’ve all been at it a long time.

“The young folk just aren’t coming through.

“We’re not looking to thrown anyone in at the deep end, but if no-one comes forward to fill the gaps, we won’t have a village hall at all. And with it will go Helpline, dancing, art and the Drop-In. Hornby will not be the same.”

An AGM is scheduled for June 16. Anyone who thinks they could help should call Jacqui on 015242 21851.
