TWO Lancaster theatres are branching out to a young audience with an imaginative and magical show bringing the great outdoors indoors.
The Forest, a thrilling performance for everyone aged five and above, is coming to Lancaster from February 29 until March 3, after a sell-out run at the Sydney Opera House.
The Dukes and Live at LICA(Lancaster Institute for Contemporary Arts) have joined forces to present The Forest at the Nuffield Theatre on the Lancaster University campus.
A spokesman for The Dukes said: “A surprising and enchanting contemporary dance production which takes place within a set full of real trees, The Forest explores the landscape through music, dance, light and sound.
“The Forest is a place where things are not quite what they seem. People become animals, birds become music, day becomes night-time, leaves become light.
“The themes of forests, nature and animals are at the heart of fairytales and folklore familiar to children.
“But what won’t be so familiar to youngsters is a set featuring real tree trunks reaching from floor to ceiling, around which the performers dance and amongst which the audience sit.”
