This week heralds the end of the holidays as it is back to school for everyone this week.

Andrew and Stephen go back on Tuesday and Tom on Wednesday.

The house will feel completely empty without them and it always takes me time to adjust, don’t get me wrong I enjoy the peace and quiet and having the chance to breathe but at the same time I miss them.

We have had a lovely Easter break, just enjoying each other’s company and Tom has coped remarkably well with all of the changes in routine.

He has also wanted to get dressed and go out which has been a huge achievement, I honestly thought I would have to wrestle him out of his angry birds pyjamas.

We have been out for numerous coffee juices, a visit to the Aquarium of the Lakes which Tom adored, we must have whizzed around there at least six times and we even survived shoe shopping, most of these activities it also has to be said were accompanied by Squirrel, the soft toy that we bought him for his birthday.

I do have to confess though, to my absolute shame, that we left Squirrel, although briefly, in the toy box at the shoe shop in Kendal.

It was only when we were all sat in the car heading to the Aquarium after having been mobile for around fifteen minutes that it suddenly dawned on me that
Tom was not clutching Squirrel.

Oh no! I thought to myself, Andrew’s going go mad and secondly I hoped that nobody had taken it home with them.

Anyway Andrew did turn the car back around and when he ventured back into the shop to fetch Squirrel from the toy box, luckily no child was playing with it and he did get a few strange looks, Tom and Squirrel were reunited.

The funny thing was though that he had not realised he had ‘lost’ Squirrel.

So it is with a heavy heart that I shall be waving my boys off this week but I know that I also need our old routine back.

The house needs a good clean too.
