The Lancaster Guardian’s #saveourhospice campaign is going great guns now – with your help our fundraising total is rising higher – but we also want to remind you just why we are doing it.
If you have ever had a friend or relation use the hospice – or you may have needed its services yourself – you will know how important it is to have this in our local area. But if not, you may realise how extensive a service it provides.
Today we focus on the Hospice at Home service – many people will not even realise that the hospice’s outreach services are so extensive – and talk to the team who make sure those who want to stay at home – stay at home.
The importance of this is not to be underestimated. St John’s Hospice itself is a fabulous place – but many people to want to spend their last days at home, surrounded by their families.
Where would we be without St John’s?
Tough to hear that the Lancaster district’s public health is struggling on so many counts.
It seems hardly surprising following last week’s news that hunger seems to be at an all time high in the area. These issues never exist in a vacuum and until we identify workable solutions to the underlying problems, we will see no improvements.
