David Morris, Morecambe and Lunesdale MP.

I would like to remind you that there is a total of £64 million available from the Coastal Communities Fund during 2014 – 2017 to charities, voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprises, local authorities, local enterprise partnerships and private companies.

The Government has made funding available of amounts more than £50,000 for projects lasting longer than two years exclusively to coastal communities such as ours. The closing date for applications is 30th April 30.

If you have a look at my website, I’ve put a link so that you can find out more information, visit www.davidmorrismp.co.uk.

The Morecambe Bay Partnership has previously been awarded this funding and it would be good if more could come to the constituency.

From last Sunday, April 6, the personal tax allowance has increased to £10,000 which is great news and means that you don’t have to pay tax on the first £10,000 of your earnings.

This rise will lift around 402 people in Morecambe & Lunesdale out of income tax and means that more than 4,000 people will have been be lifted out of income tax altogether.

Since 2010 the typical taxpayer has paid around £705 less which is quite a saving for hard-working people. The personal tax allowance will again increase to £10,500 next year which I think is good news.

I have launched a constituency wide survey and I want to know your views on a range of issues.

I have been distributing the survey around the constituency; it is also available online if you’d prefer to answer that way.

My survey only takes a few minutes to complete and you can find it by going to www.letdavidknow.co.uk.

Last week I was pleased to be able to telephone some people who have completed the survey to thank them and to talk further about their suggestions.

Minister Grant Shapps MP recently joined me on the telephones and we were able to ask people to complete the survey questions on the phone. Grant Shapps knows the constituency well as he was in Carnforth recently.

If you would like a paper copy of the survey, please contact my office.
