I am extremely disappointed that Lancashire County Council has decided to close Skerton High School, I feel as though the voices of parents, pupils, teachers, school staff and residents of Skerton have been completely ignored and I have no idea why the Labour lead County Council are insistent on closing Skerton School.
This week I launched my new constituency wide survey, I am keen to know your thoughts about living and working here in Morecambe and Lunesdale.
Thank you to Rt. Hon. Grant Shapps MP who telephoned some constituents on Tuesday along with me to ask people to complete the survey on the phone.
My survey only takes a few minutes to fill in and you can do it from the comfort of your own home via the internet.
I’ll be asking questions such as how the Heysham M6 Link Road will impact daily life and how employment opportunities can be improved in the area.
Please take a look at www.letdavidknow.co.uk for more details and I will look forward to reading your response.
I spent most of the morning last Friday at the RLI, huge thank you to the staff and patients for making me so welcome.
It was nice to speak to so many patients and to hear their experiences of being treated at the RLI.
One particular gentleman who was receiving treatment in Oncology told me how good the staff are.
The nursing staff told me that there is more laughter than tears in oncology which for me was very poignant.
I was also pleased to speak to staff on Ward 39, in Accident and Emergency, on the maternity ward and on the children’s ward too.
A few weeks ago I announced that the Coastal Communities Fund is back open for the third round.
It would be great to see a good chunk of the money come here to Morecambe and Lunesdale.
If you would like to bid, the window for expressions of interest is open until April 30, 2014.
You can find more information on my website www.davidmorrismp.co.uk, there is a total of £64 Million available.
