Earlier this week I was pleased to receive confirmation that Hornby Swimming Pool will not close.

A number of constituents have contacted me in recent months worried about the prospect of the pool’s closure so it is good that I have received confirmation from the council that they plan to keep it open.

It was a pleasure to visit Naomi Genitoni-Smith and wish her good luck on Friday.

Naomi is a Sixth Form student at Our Lady’s Catholic College and she will display her science project ‘Research of novel fire retardants for composites’ to a number of judges during The Big Bang Fair later this week.

The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest celebration of sciences and engineering for young people which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham on March 13 and 14.

Good luck Naomi, it is an incredible achievement to be displaying your work at such an important event and I know you have an exciting career in science ahead of you.

My friend Col. Bob Stewart MP was in the constituency last week, he was speaking at an event to ex-service personnel and to people with an interest in politics.

Prior to being elected as an MP, Col. Bob had a distinguished military career including leading the first United Nations Battalion into Bosnia.

I held my first business breakfast at Lancaster and Morecambe College last week, it was good to have a number of local business leaders in one room to network and talk all things business.

If you would like to attend a future business breakfast please contact my office for details.

Some of the world’s most talented App developers met at InfoLab21 at Lancaster University last week, they were given 24 hours to design apps that would address traffic solutions.

With only a few hours sleep and lots of caffeine the developers produced some great apps, including an app that picks a playlist of music based on how busy the traffic is, upbeat for free flowing traffic more down beat for a traffic jam – really clever ideas based on only 24 hours development I was pleased to be one of the judges.

My next advice surgery is on Friday, March 14, to book an appointment please contact my office.
