I would urge readers to respond to the consultation using the online questionnaire on the Lancashire County Council website.

Earlier this week I tabled a Parliamentary motion about Hillcroft Residential Home in Slyne-with-Hest, the motion reads:
“That this House notes the recent sentencing of staff at Hillcroft Residential Care Home in Slyne-with-Hest; further notes that the standard of care in this facility fell far short of the standards that are reasonably expected by residents and Judge Michael Byrne stated after sentencing that much evidence in the trial revealed that there was, at the relevant times, a lax regime with weak and inadequate management on the unit which allowed the kind of conduct to carry on undetected and without proper and adequate control; believes that the management of Hillcroft should offer a full public apology and an explanation of what they have done to improve standards; further believes that this is the appropriate response whether improvements have been made recently or not; and calls on the management of Hillcroft to issue this apology and statement immediately.”
This week, the Prime Minister announced that millions of pounds worth of business rates will be given to local Councils who give the green light to shale gas exploration.
As a supporter of shale gas exploration I welcome this news.
