A Lancaster couple are celebrating the birth of their first child.
Arlo J Blackwell was born at 3.01am on April 2 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, weighing 7lb.
His parents Holly and David Blackwell, best known as successful city band The Lovely Eggs, said they were delighted with the new addition to their family.
Holly said: “He was a planned baby and we found out he was on his way the day before we played a big festival down in Somerset.
“We were extremely happy to find out he was coming.
“Arlo was born on the same day as David’s mum Anne, after I had been in labour for 26 hours. We didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl so it was a lovely surprise.
“We’re thrilled with him.”
Arlo, who has dark hair and blue eyes, shares his forename with the son of folk legend Woodie Guthrie.
Holly and David, who manages Lancaster Musicians Co-Op, have been together for 17 years, and married for six.
Holly said that during her pregnancy she became addicted to cakes, sweets and Becks Blue.
“Arlo is five weeks now and doing well. We get more sleep than we got on tour,” she added.
“A lot of people say he looks like his dad.
“He loves listening to Joni Mitchell and The Velvet Underground in the tour van.
“He also loves the sound of the hairdryer!
“We’re doing our first gig for a while in Hebden Bridge on July 19, and my mum is coming to look after Arlo while we’re on stage.
“She’s really up for coming out on tour with us and helping while we’re at work.”
Holly also thanked RLI midwives Michelle and Louise.
