THE Lancaster and District Choral Society (LDCS) is ready to celebrate its 175th year as it prepares for its 2011/12 season.
Rehearsals begin on Monday September 5 for Berlioz’ spectacular composition La Grande Messe des Morts.
Featuring an expanded brass section, the mass promises to be a fitting piece to mark the anniversary year for which new singers, especially men, are welcome.
No audition is required.
La Grande Messe des Morts will be performed on Saturday, November 19 in Lancaster University Great Hall with a full orchestra and professional soloists.
John Perrin is musical director.
The choir’s Christmas Concert will take place at The Ashton Hall on George Street, Lancaster on Saturday, December 10, with Morecambe Brass Band, Ripley St Thomas CE School Choir and The Drama Factory.
