Chair of council quits

THE chairman of Morecambe Town Council has resigned due to personal reasons.

Roger Plumb has stepped down from the council after 17 months in the role.

The council will elect a new chairman at its next meeting on Thursday, October 20.

Mr Plumb, a member of the Morecambe Bay Independent party, also served as a Lancaster city councillor between 2007 and 2010.

David Croxall, town clerk, said : “The council would like to place on record its thanks and gratitude for all the hard work Councillor Plumb has undertaken in assisting the council to move forward.

“Arrangements will be made shortly for advertising and the filling of the vacancy created by Councillor Plumb’s resignation.”
